Glorifying the Prophet (peace be upon him) is a form of faith in him, this can be realized by
following and practicing his instructions. In this aspect of a Muslim's life, worship is an
obligation that must be carried out as a commitment between a servant and his Lord. The
reference or standard of correct worship procedures is explained in the two guidelines, namely
the Qur'an and hadith. Provisions in worship instructions have also been explained in it, both
mandatory and sunnah. Including the instructions taught by the Prophet is teaching prayer.
Prayer is an act of worship that can be done by a Muslim addressed only to Allah. To find out
the instructions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in
teaching prayer, the author will conduct a study of the hadith of Ibn Abbas Radhiyallahu 'anhu
which is related to this issue. The purpose of this study is to examine the hadith of Ibn Abbas
Radhiyallahu 'anhu so that the Prophet Muhammad's instructions in teaching prayer can be
known. The approach in this study uses a qualitative approach with the type of library
research. The results of this study indicate that: (1) The Hadith of Ibn Abbas shows the
importance of teaching prayer (2) Direct instructions applied by the Prophet when teaching
prayer (3) There are several benefits and valuable lessons such as explaining the manners of
prayer.
